Let's help Chattanooga become the first US National Park City! Sign the charter here so that Chattanooga reaches the 5,000 signatures needed for submitting its application.
Why is this important? The global National Park City movement has only two cities : London, England, and Adelaide, Australia. Earlier this year, the Chattanooga Parks Department began the process of applying to become North America's first National Park City. The department hosted public meetings, forming community groups and began writing a National Park City charter. Here are just three of the goals in the charter.
- Access: Making it easy for all Chattanoogans to reach the city's parks and feel safe and welcome there
- Equity: Ensuring that everyone has access to a great public park
- Nature: Protecting the Southern Appalachian landscape, which is one of the most biodiverse in the world

It's no wonder the Chattanooga Track club supports these efforts. After all, we orchestrate more than 30 running events every year in our metro area's amazing parks and green spaces. See our letter to Mayor Tim Kelly below -- and please sign the charter here today!
