2018 Chickamauga Marathon

The 2018 running of the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon will be held on Saturday, November 10 with the marathon and accompanying half-marathon both starting at 7:30 from 6 Barnhardt Circle next to the gazebo in Fort Oglethorpe.
This race, being held at the battlefield for the 39th straight year, is a double loop through the park with a few rolling hills along the way. Not considered a difficult course, it’s a great place for personal records and Boston qualifying times.
The two races have been designated as the Georgia state championships by the Road Runners Club of America.
In addition to the two longer races, there will also be a Fort Oglethorpe 5K at 8 a.m. and a Junior Marathon, which is a one-mile run for younger runners.

Defending champions in the marathon include Jake Gillette of Goshen, Indiana with a time of 2:43:38 and Kaye Starosciak from Canton, Ga., who was tge female winner in 3:06:17. Ken Curran and Sarah Getty both finished a year ago.
John Gilpin and Sarah Gibson are the defending champs for the half marathon with times of 1:13:26 and 1:27:57, respectively.
Salvador Castillo won the 5K in 2017 with a time of 17:45 while Paige Thompson was the female winner in 19:26.
