For Immediate Release

There is now an event for ultramarathon enthusiasts in the Chattanooga area and it will take place on Saturday, April 14 at Greenway Farm, located on Hamill Road in Hixson.

Called the Locomotion 12 & 6, it’s actually two events, one of six hours and the other of 12. It’s basically a chance for individuals to see just how far they can run – or walk – in either six hours or 12.

The 12-hour group will begin at 7:30 a.m. while the six-hour participants will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Individuals and relay groups are urged to participate and the relay division will feature five groups, including corporate, non-profit, running club, public service and open.

Entry fee for individuals is $50 for the 12-hour event and $40 for the six-hour while the fee for relay teams is $70 for the longer event and $60 for the shorter one.

There is no race-day registration and it will close at midnight on Wednesday, April 11. Go to for further registration information.

Jared Denton was the 12-hour winner last year after completing 33 loops for 66 miles in just over 11:28. Huntsville’s Wilol Koehesen was the runner-up after logging 64 miles in 11:43.

Kristy Denton, Jared’s sister in law, was the women’s overall winner after covering 58 miles in 11:41 while Meghan Wayman was the female runner-up after covering the same distance in 11:47.

John Pollard was the six-hour winner after covering 38 miles in 5:48.
