2017 Missionary Ridge Race

The 45th annual Missionary Ridge Road Race will be held on Saturday, August 12 with the out-and-back 4.7 mile race starting and finishing at Bragg Reservation.

The race, which benefits the American Red Cross and the Team Bruner Scholarship fund, begins at 8 a.m. with a one-mile fun run/walk set to begin immediately afterward.

Early online registration is available until midnight on Thursday, August 10 while race-day registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. As has been the case in recent years, there's no parking at Bragg Reservation, but there will be a shuttle service running back and forth from McCallie School, located at 500 Dodds Avenue, starting at 6 a.m.

Awards will be presented to the overall male and female along with master and grand master age groups in addition to the usual age group awards.

There will also be cash rewards for the top three overall finishers, both male and female with first place earning $100, second place $65 and third place $35.

Pre-race packet pickup will take place on Friday, August 11 from 4-7 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, located in Coolidge Park at 200 River Street.

John Gilpin and Emily Bell are the defending champs with Gilpin's winning time being 25:41 and Bell finishing seventh overall in 29:19.

Jesse Martinez and Sarah Woerner were both second last year with times of 27:13 and 31:11, respectively.

In addition to the usual age group awards, the annual Arnold Godwin Award will be presented to the oldest participant in memory of Godwin, who loved this race and ran it many times.
