2016 King of the Mountain Road Race

The 12th Annual King of the Mountain road race will be held on Lookout Mountain on Saturday, May 7 with the four-mile main event starting and ending at the Lookout Mountain Town Commons, 700 Scenic Highway.

The race, which features a challenging uphill start yet a rewarding downhill finish, benefits the scholarship fund for the Good Shepherd School and the race runs through Point Park.

The four-mile race is set to begin at 8:15 a.m. sharp while a one-mile fun run/walk will follow at 9.

Early registration can be done through and there will be race-day registration as well. Early packet pickup will be held on Friday, May 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd School, located at 211 Franklin Road.

This race is the second leg of the Battle for Chattanooga series and includes four Chattanooga Track Club races held in locations where key battles in the Civil War were fought.

The first was the Chickamauga Chase while the final two include Missionary Ridge and the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon.

Geno Phillips was the overall winner in 2015 with a time of 21:53 while Jack McGinness was second in 22:17.

Jessica Marlier was the women’s winner in 24:31 with Jennifer Curtis taking second in 27:53.
