The 2015 Johnson Mental Health Pumpkin Run 10K will be held on Saturday, October 10 with the 6.2-mile race starting at 9 a.m. next to the guard shack at Moccasin Bend Hospital.

The event, which has been held for 31 straight years, heads north on Moccasin Bend Road to Pineville Road where it makes a U-turn and heads straight back to the finish line. It’s probably the flattest and fastest 10K course around and certainly one that’s suitable for personal records.

A 5K walk is also part of the event and starts at the same time while a one-mile fun run/walk is set for 9:15.

Proceeds from the event benefit the clients of the Joe Johnson Mental Health Center in Chattanooga.

Race-day registration will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 8:45. Awards will be presented in the gym, starting at 10:40.

Michael Walker is the defending champion as he posted a time of 34:09 last year while Jack Findley was the runner-up in 34:47.

Sarah Woerner, a la Susie Q, was the women’s winner as she finished 17th overall in 42:10. Bekah Houston was the women’s runner-up with a 19th-place time of 42:55.
