The 30th Annual Wauhatchie Trail Run will be held on Saturday, December 20 with the gender and age-handicapped 6.7-mile trail run beginning at 9:30 at the Chattanooga Nature Center.

The race, which includes some serious climbs on the side of Lookout Mountain, has a net elevation gain of 410 feet.

Runners may choose to run with friends and can start later than their scheduled time, but not earlier.

This is a no-frills recycling event with runners urged to bring an item related to running to exchange at the awards ceremony. The overall winner and the winner of the two-person family completion will both receive the coveted Golden Antlers Trophy.

Runners are also urged to bring cooSplit Merged Table Cellskies or other food items to share in the post-run gathering.  Alcohol is not allowed.

Tim Ensign is the four-time defending champ and nine-time winner overall while Rodney Stoker’s time of 37:04, which was set in 2000, is the course record.

Daniel and Joseph Goetz, a couple of pretty fast brothers who had a combined time of 1:21:47 last year, are the defending winners in the family competition, which can include any combination of brother-sister, father-daughter, husband-wife or the like.

The race is directed by members of the Chattanooga Track Club and will be held, regardless of weather conditions.
