Marathon/Hald Marathon Training Program Kickoff

The Chattanooga Track Club will kick off their 2012 marathon and half marathon training program on Wednesday, July 18th at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River Street, adjacent to Coolidge Park from 5:30PM to 7:30PM.  

The kickoff event and expo will allow runners to obtain detailed information on the 16 week training program which includes the several available CTC running groups that can guide the runners through their weekly mileage. The program will coordinate with the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon and Half Marathon which takes place on November 10th, however, the training program can be adapted for any fall or winter marathon.  

The kickoff event will be tailored to all level of athletes from novice runners that want to know what it takes to run their first marathon, to competitive runners who want to improve their times and qualify for events such as the Boston Marathon.  Experienced runners from the Track Club will be on hand to provide personal assistance on all aspects of what it takes to train for a marathon or half marathon. 

In addition, resources will be on hand to discuss the following:
- nutritional needs
- injury prevention and treatment
- tips for training with the correct running shoes
- developing junior runners and Junior Miracle Marathon participation
- running as part of the Run for Miracles Team which supports the 
  Children's Hospital Foundation.  

Door prizes will be given away including one free entry into either the CTC's Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon or the Half Marathon.   Runners who are Chattanooga Track Club members and sign up for one of the Chickamauga races at the kickoff and expo will be given a $10 discount. Food and beverages will be served at the event.
