FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Chattanooga Track Club picks up Joe Johnson 10k

Chattanooga, TN - 13 April 2011 - The board of the Chattanooga Track Club was informed Tuesday night that the CTC would be adding the Joe Johnson Mental Health 10k Pumpkin Run to its stable of races.

Previously, the race was directed and operated by the Johnson Mental Health Center at Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute. It has been a Runner of the Year race in the past, however, it was not owned by the Chattanooga Track Club.

Under the new arrangement, the Johnson Mental Health Center will continue to benefit from the event, but all operational aspects of the event will be directed by the Chattanooga Track Club.

Doug Roselle, the Vice President of Races for the CTC, and Flash Cunningham, the Equipment Manager for the CTC, will be co-race directors for the 2011 race. Mr Roselle told the Board of Directors that he would like to seek an RRCA State Championship bid for 2012.

The Joe Johnson Mental Health 10k Pumpkin Run is scheduled for Saturday, October 29, at the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute. The race is known for its fast, flat course and traditionally mild weather, and several state records have been set on the course.

Founded in 1970, the Chattanooga Track Club is a non-profit organization with the goal of promoting running, walking, and general fitness in the Chattanooga area. The club pursues this goal through a number of activities including weekly group runs, annual road races, youth programs, and social events. The Chattanooga Track Club is a member of the Road Runners Club of America and USA Track & Field.
