ELEMENTARY CROSS COUNTRY

Dear Coaches:

For full details regarding this season’s meets, please visit our calendar at www.runctc.org and select any of the listed cross country meet dates. Most of the general plans for this year are the same as 2017. For a quick link to meet #1 click HERE. 

The series is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders either with a team OR racing independently. We will be on the arena-end of Camp Jordan once again on Thursdays in September (9/6, 9/12, 9/20, & 9/27) with a rain date on 10/4. The fee will be $1.00 per student entire season, whether they race one or all four races. Cash or check is fine (check payable to CTC). 

We will need a signed for each student before he/she can race. Only one waiver is needed for the season and can be found HERE. We will use the same schedule as 2017: 3rd grade at 4:45 pm, 4th grade at 5:05 pm, 5th grade at 5:25 pm. 


**IMPORTANT - HELP NEEDED**

1. VOLUNTEERS: We will have the course set up and will recruit volunteers to handle registration. However – we would like each team to provide ONE volunteer per meet to assist at the finish line (managing traffic, handing out finish line cards), or on the course directing racers. If you have parents who wish to stop and watch their child’s race heat – that’s completely fine and we understand - we just need them to tap someone else in to cover for them. These volunteer roles are incredibly helpful in creating a smooth, pleasant racing experience for the kids and we GREATLY appreciate your help! 


Parents can sign up to volunteer at www.volctc.org – slots for the first meet are already open. Please encourage them to sign up online so we can communicate directly with them, which will hopefully free you to focus on your team on race day! 


2. RESULTS: Just as we did in 2017 - each racer will receive an index card in the finish chute upon completion of their race. We will collect cards of the TOP 15 Finishers in each heat/grade/gender. The card will indicate their placement on the results. 


Coaches Instructions for TOP 15 Finishers: 

1. Collect cards earned by members of your team immediately.

2. Write racers name, grade, gender and school on the card.

3. Turn in to the Race Officials immediately following each heat so that results can be calculated in a timely manner.


Names of top 15 finishers will be listed on results. All finish times will be posted and coaches may use the place cards to determine each student’s finish time. To see an example from prior years: http://www.chattanoogatrackclub.org/raceResults/results/raceResults_661.pdf
